Students from Francis Howell High and Francis Howell North will be vying for the gold medal in the second annual Iron Chef Challenge sponsored by Sodexho.

Five Family and Consumer Science students from each high school will be selected to plan, prepare, and serve a three-course menu consisting of a salad, vegetable, and entrée, for thirty people using only ingredients provided to them. Contestants will have two hours to create their meal and will be judged on taste, nutrition, and presentation.

It is time, once again, to being the revision process for the Student Code of Conduct booklets. We need input from our parents and staff regarding any suggested changes to the Code. Please complete Form A with any suggestions you may have and email the form to Kay Wyeth by February 19th.

James Phillips, a senior at Francis Howell North High School, was recognized as the honorary student representative to the Board of Education at the February 4 meeting. James was nominated by FHN principal, Dr. Darlene Jones for being an exemplary student.

Children who can focus at school will learn more and be more successful. There are some things you can do at home to help your children be better able to focus at school.

Team of Concern (TOC) is a substance abuse prevention program available at all Francis Howell middle schools, funded through the Community and Children’s Resource Board. It is the school/community-based component of Preferred Family Healthcare, the largest provider of substance abuse services in the state of Missouri. The goals of TOC are to raise awareness of substance abuse issues in the area, to work with students who are at risk of turning to drugs or alcohol in the future, and to intervene with students who may be experimenting already. TOC offers prevention awareness education to students, and educates parents and faculty on identifying at-risk behaviors and drug trends.

The Howell of Fame Award recognizes excellence of character, performance and service of those who serve the Francis Howell School District as employees, volunteers and patrons.
