1. Fatal Disease There has been an outbreak of a new strain of a fatal disease in the country of Wilkenia. This is a highly contagious strain, and thousands of people have perished. The number of Wilkenians infected is growing exponentially.

2. Ethnic Cleansing There is an ethnic group in the country of Holmico that is being systematically eliminated by deportation, forced emigration, and genocide by another ethnic group of Holmicans. Women are being raped and children are being killed for their ethnicity.

3. Natural Disaster A major typhoon has ravaged the country of Joneland. There is homelessness, hunger, and medical needs among the Jonelanders due to structural damage from the storm and subsequent flooding.

4. Terrorism Terrorists have been attacking the country of Schellberg relentlessly. They've blown up homes, schools, and businesses. The Schellbergish people fear yet another attack and are reluctant to leave what's left of their homes. Some civilians are being held hostage by terrorists.

5. Civil War For years a civil war has been raging between two factions in a region of Gunna. Thousands of civilian Gunnese have been murdered, due largely to fields of land mines. Foreign travelers have been killed. Soldiers from both sides of the conflict are being held and tortured as prisoners of war.

6. Religious Persecution In the country of Whitia, a large group of Whitians is being persecuted for its religious beliefs by a larger religious group. They are not allowed to worship or display their religious beliefs in any way. They're being stoned and imprisoned, and their religious leader has been burned at the stake.
