This webquest is designed for 10th grade communication arts classes at Francis Howell North High School. It is intended to be the culminating project for the "America's Role in the World Community" section of the CA curriculum. It also addresses multiple objectives in the Information and Technology Literacy curriculum. It is designed to be team taught by the 10th CA teacher and library media specialist. A lesson on summarizing and paraphrasing is recommended in the classroom before the start of the webquest.
Timeline:
1st day: CA teacher introduces project in the classroom by going over the following pages: Home, Introduction, Task, and briefly over the Process page.
2nd day: In library. LMS briefly reviews Home, Introduction, Task, and Process pages. LMS goes over the beginning of the Resources page, including "How to make an annotated bibliography," "Sample annotated bibliography," and "How to use and cite EBSCO." Students choose topic, research on EBSCO, and begin making entries on their annotated bibliography.
3rd day: In library. LMS goes over "How to use and cite Newsbank" and "How to use and cite Student Research Center." Students research on EBSCO, Newsbank, and Student Research Center and continue making entries on their annotated bibliography.
4th day: In library. LMS goes over "How to find good information on the internet and cite it." Students research on EBSCO, Newsbank, Student Research Center, and the internet and continue making entries on their annotated bibliography.
5th day: In library. Students research on EBSCO, Newsbank, Student Research Center, the internet, and county library databases and continue making entries on their annotated bibliography.
6th day: In library. Students research on EBSCO, Newsbank, Student Research Center, the internet, and county library databases and continue making entries on their annotated bibliography.
