Monday
What we learned today was we had to write stories in our Writers Notebook. We had an intruder drill and we went to the back of the room and had to stay quiet. We did math and learned about three digit numbers.We colored a map and had to decide if the questions were true or false in the Neighborhood Map. We learned a new spelling pattern that was q and u. We did text to self connections with the book Arthur’s Sleepover and reading groups while we were doing text to self connections. We also met our new student Miranda today.
Tuesday
We had reading groups. We read a book called Fly Away Home and did text to world connections. We did vocabulary and the words we learned were breathe and landform. We did math and we had to work with three digit numbers. Then we did data from maps. We stacked and packed.
Wednesday
We had an early release day so we did our morning work. Then we went to the library and then we went to our Kindergarten Buddies room and interviewed our new Buddies. We went to recess and lunch. Then we came back from recess and lunch. Then we read a chapter of Way Side School. Then we got ready to go home after we made cards for Paisley because it was her last day at school.
Thursday
We did our morning work. Then we did Story Elements; the setting, the problem, the solution, and the characters. While we were doing that, we had reading groups. We went over our daily objectives. We did vocabulary and learned the qword anxiously. We learned how to subtract three digit numbers with zero. Then we want to P.E. and we exercised. Then we came back and we looked at a map Missouri. Then we stacked and packed and went home.
Friday
Today we did our morning work. Then we listened to a book called Earthquack. Then we wrote Text to Text connections between Earthquack and Henny Penny. We are going to take our Spelling Test and Math Test this afternoon. We will continue working on our Missouri Maps.

Monday
Our class did a story flag (story map) on Horrible Harry Moves up to Third Grade. We are working on our writing packets and are working on our rough drafts. We read our books. We learned our new spelling words and the pattern: scr, spr and str. In music we learned how to do music note patterns. We learned how to do two step problems in math. We learned how to read maps. We also learned how to remember the directions of the compass rose, Never Eat Soggy Waffles.
Tuesday
We read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No good, Very Bad Day. We also made connections with the book. We read our books, like always.
We got writing portfolios in class. We watched a Brain Pop Jr. video about the writing process. We worked with money in math and learned about maps in content.
Wednesday
We read Charlie Cook’s Favorite Book and made connections. We learned about editing and revising. We are working on our On the Map packets.In math we worked with coins. We went to the library, checked out books and learned how to find books with a library catalog.
Thursday
We did our morning work. We are reading books from the class library.
We read The Wolf’s Chicken Stew and completed a story elements page. We completed revising and editing our rough drafts. We learned new vocabulary words, household means to have stuff in your house that you need and appeal means everyone likes it. In math we did a facts test and a math test. We did three pages in our Me on the Map book.
Friday
We did morning work. We wrote what we learned this week in our Friday folder. We read My Lucky Day and did text to text connections between The Wolf’s Chicken Stew and My Lucky Day. . We watched another Brain Pop Jr. video about the four types of sentences and punctuations.
We learned the four types of sentences: imperative is a command, declarative is a statement, interrogative is a question and exclamatory is an exclamation. We took our Spelling Test, went over our Math Test we took on Thursday, and learned about numbers to 1,000. After Specials we had our Extra Recess because we earned another 15 sticks!
